Monthly rental · October to April

A bike for the months
when the roads are empty

The same bikes we rent by the day, rented by the month to people who live here and to people working from here for a while. From €270 a month, serviced every four weeks, swapped within a day if it stops working.

Between October and April the Algarve stops being a holiday and goes back to being a place with roads on it. The coast road out of Lagos has nobody on it at nine in the morning. It rains for four days and then it is 19 degrees again.

Most people who rent by the month are doing one of three things: commuting eight kilometres each way and not wanting to arrive damp, riding two or three mornings a week for the sake of it, or here on a long stay without a car. This page is written for those three. If you are here for a week in August, the day and week rates are better value and we will tell you so.

Rates

One bike, one price

Invoiced monthly in advance, with a Portuguese fiscal document if you give us an NIF. No joining fee, no minimum kilometres, no charge for the servicing.

Wayscral Everyway E200

Coast roads, town, the flat lagoon tracks. Upright, forgiving, and easy to get on and off.

Mxus rear hub, 250 W, 34 N·m, cadence sensor · 468 Wh · Shimano Altus, 7 speed · fits riders 150–170 cm

€270

a month · €9.00 a day · €30 if you rented it by the day

Two bikes on one invoice is 10% off both. Longer than three months, ask — we would rather have a bike out for a winter than in the rack.

The arrangement

Everything you would otherwise have to ask

What is included

The bike, serviced before it reaches you. Two locks — a hardened chain for the street and a cable for outside a café. Lights wired to the main battery, mudguards, a rack and a 40-litre bag if you want one. A charger, and a second charger for your desk if you ask.

Third-party insurance is included. Theft is covered with a €150 excess, on the condition that the chain lock went through the frame and something fixed to the ground. We will show you what we mean when we hand it over; it takes a minute and it is the single reason these bikes do not disappear.

Servicing

Every four weeks we take the bike for about an hour and give it back. Brake pads, chain wear, spoke tension, tyre pressure, bolt torque, and a battery health reading that we write down so you can see it drifting long before it becomes a problem.

You get a message the day before with a two-hour window. If the window does not work, say so and we move it — this is a small company and the calendar is a person, not a system.

If it breaks

Message us. Between Lagos and Tavira we swap the bike the same day if you tell us before 15:00, and the next morning if you tell us after. You keep riding on a different bike of the same model while yours is in the workshop.

Days you could not ride come off the next invoice without you having to ask for them. The exception is a puncture: there is a repair kit under the saddle, and we would rather spend ten minutes on a video call teaching you than an hour driving to Tavira. If you would still rather we came, we come.

Minimum term and notice

One month to start. After the first month it rolls week to week, so you can stop with seven days' notice and pay only for the weeks you had. Nothing renews for a year and there is no cancellation fee to find in a footnote.

No deposit if you have a Portuguese address or an NIF. Otherwise €150, held on card and released when the bike comes back.

How to pause

Going away for three weeks, or the weather has genuinely turned? Tell us and we collect the bike, stop the billing that day and hold your model for you. Two pauses per winter, a week each at minimum, and the pause does not restart the minimum term.

Restarting is one message. You get the same bike back if it is still on the rack and the same model if it is not — the fleet is small enough that we know which one was yours.

Riding here in winter

It gets dark before 18:00 in December and the lights are wired in for that reason. Rain comes in three- and four-day blocks rather than showers, and the bikes are fine in it; the brake pads wear faster and that is our problem, not yours.

The N125 is not a pleasant road in any season. When we hand the bike over we will mark the parallel roads on your phone, which are quieter, prettier and usually two minutes slower.

Where we deliver

Anywhere between Lagos and Tavira, free, on a day that suits you. We fit the saddle, set the assist levels to something sensible for how you actually ride, and take the packaging away with us.

Start with one month

Tell us roughly where you live, how tall you are and what you would use it for. We will say which of the three we would send, and if the honest answer is that you do not need a monthly, we will say that instead.
