What is worth stopping for in Ferragudo

Before you ride to Ferragudo
- The castle at the river mouth, São João de Arade, is privately owned. You photograph it from the beach and that is as close as anybody gets.
- Ferragudo faces Portimão across the Arade and kept the fishing fleet Portimão lost. The boats pulled up on the mud are working boats, not scenery.
- The old village is stairs and cobbles above the square. Lock the bike by the water and walk up — it is five minutes and the alternative is carrying 24 kg.

70 m of climbing over 8 km is nothing the motor cannot absorb. It is a hybrid with a motor on it — if the assist runs out you ride on, on seven gears.
